In the “Year of Women”, it is 100 years since the Suffrage Movement led to some women getting the vote in the UK.  It is also the 100th anniversary of the formation of Gingerbread, the charity for single parent families; the school leaving age was increased to 14 years old; women gained the right stand as a members of Parliament (though, perversely, they could stand for a seat at 21, but couldn’t actually cast a vote until the age of 30); Muriel Spark, author of ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’ was born. And in that century, since the First World War ended, so much has progressed… and yet…

The Wuffings Theatre Company is pleased to present Charlotte Keatley’s multi-layered play, ‘My Mother Said I Never Should’, which spans the twentieth century. Four women, across four generations, equally funny, ferocious and feminist – ‘My Mother Said I Never Should’ is a celebration of womanhood, from the perspective of individual women at various times in their lives. Come and celebrate with them.

(This production will be donating towards the charity Gingerbread, from your ticket purchase).
