Venue: Constitution Club, Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds
The Wuffings Theatre Company presents ‘Birdsong’ by James Saunders
Tinker and Joey indulge in Wittgensteinian philosophical conversations – as they fuss about in their cage, running up and down the little ladder, ringing the bell and bemoaning the scarcity of cuttlefish, checking their plumage in the mirror, happy in their small, ordered world. Into their enclosure is thrust Trixie – a dissident – whose insistent squawks for freedom disrupt the twittering of the others and threatens the pecking order.
First performed at the Orange Tree Theatre, as part of the Richmond Fringe in 1979, Birdsong has been described as a cross between Waiting for Godot and a Gary Larson ‘what we say/what our pets hear’ cartoon. Existentialism for budgerigars.
Ticket price £7
Performance dates: Sunday 14th, Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th April, 7:30pm (doors 7pm)
